"Let all mortal flesh keep silence… Christ our God to earth descendeth Our full homage to demand."
An ancient carol from the fourth-century Liturgy of St. James, translated from the Greek and set to the 17th century French melody “Picardy.” It is arranged for harp and voice, with the harp playing a counterpoint to the voice, punctuated with shimmering chords. Often sung during Advent, it is appropriate as a Communion hymn as any time. Easy to intermediate; in the key of D minor (one flat) with no lever or pedal changes.
