"Once I had a sweetheart and now I have none… He's gone and leaved me in sorrow to mourn."
The popular song "Once I Had A Sweetheart" consists of verses 4, 5, and 6 of this traditional English folk song. Here we present the entire song as collected in 1911 by Tilly Aston from Mrs. Aston of Moonee Ponds, Victoria, Australia, and first published in the Journal of the English Folk Dance and Song Society, Vol. I, p. 52.
The sheet music is 4 pages long and includes words (all seven verses), melody, chords, and arrangement for the harp. It is in the key of C; there are two accidentals, but those notes can be omitted by lever harpists if desired and the music will still sound beautiful! Level: easy to intermediate.
