For Lever and Pedal Harp
While presenting a workshop on composition at Southeastern Harp Weekend 2011, the participants learned the essential elements for creating a composition – so we picked a key, selected a time signature, chose a few notes for the A Section and a few more notes for the B Section – and we began to create our composition. Although we created a delightful little 16-bar piece, I liked its “bones” and decided to enhance and enlarge it into a “respectable” composition (worthy to be played in front of an audience). This piece possesses the signature sound of Frank’s other compositions with dancing rhythms, tasteful glissing, and a jazzy flavor.
